About Me and the Blog
Just the facts:
I am a wife and homeschooling mom to Ms. Q, age 9, Little M, age 3, and Baby C, 1. We have one crazy old dog named Hooch and various other pets like hermit crabs and guinea pigs, around at any time. We live in the Garden State where we try our best to enjoy the outdoors and each other.
The details:
I am a wife and mother. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Fred, since 2008. We are both fairly stubborn and share a passion for arguing. We are working on learning to compromise but I find it difficult to not be right all the time (because we both know I usually am).
We started homeschooling in 2008 when Ms. Q was in first grade. It started out as a trial period to finish the year but it was soon clear that we could never send our kids back to public school. Our family was not initially supportive but we are slowly winning them over. You can read more about why we made the homeschooling decision here. At the time we didn't know any people that were homeschooling and didn't realize just how many people were out there. We are Charlotte Mason inspired homeschoolers. Homeschooling has become more than just "school" for us. We really enjoy learning things together as a family and it has become less school and more life.
I have a few interests that I wish I had more time for but I squeeze them in when I have a spare minute. I love reading, knitting, baking, and hiking. I consider myself a bit of a crunchy mama. We use cloth diapers, eat whole foods in season, and use non-chemical cleaners.
I started blogging as a way to record the adventures of our homeschool, an electronic scrapbook of sorts. I wanted a way to remember all the things we were doing as a family and a way to share these experiences with our family members. I hope you enjoy reading about our adventures and they give you some inspiration.
